Parental Restrictions
Do any other parents here believe in restrictions? I only believe in restrictions if the child is irresponsible , and doesn't listen.

Does anyone give their child extreme restrictions?

Did you have a specific situation you were thinking of? I'm assuming you're talking about older school- aged children or teens?
Anytime you restrict a child, in my opinion, you are showing them that you don't trust them. I believe in natural consequences -- that is, discipling the child based on the negative behaviours (rather than your emotion -- anger, disapointment). I would use a restriction if the child did something that did, in fact, lose my trust. In that case, a restriction would be the natural consequence for that negative behaviour.

I will only have restrictions if the child's behavior is suspicious or his activities are not good.

Yes! I will take away my daughters phone if she makes bad grades in school. She has a cell phone so she knows that if she gets bad grades she gets no phone. You can bet she is bringing in good grades to keep that phone.

I believe that children need to be restricted from the internet. we now have laws preventing certain groups of adults from accessing sites that allow children on them. While these adults did do something wrong, if the same laws were applied to real life places, these people would not be able to walk out of their door.

Too much of restriction is not good for the child. Allow him to grow naturally and leave him alone.
