Does anyone else feel that the expansion of low cost, internet media is leading to print design becoming a thing of the past?

When we are talking B2B the paper won't go away, we still need to send out letters with invoices ect. and we still need to give away business cards to people we meet, and we will need to have posters when we want to target someone at the trainstation, schools ect. So no i don't think it will go away.

Some time far out in the future when everythings is displays and we exchange buisness cards by our personal computers we might go away from print design, but still the contest font the screens needs to be created. Print design often looks great at screens anyway. :-)

Well, I can say that you can almost do anything yourself nowadays. Just go to your local computer store and you will find programs that allow you to print your own business cards, flyers, resumees, brochures etc. I think the printing industry as a business is in decline nowadays, while printing yourself is increasing as almost everybody has a computer and a printer.

Print will never go out simply because so many people need paper for reference, they dont have computers and its always a great backup in case. I still print my books and love lulu and blue squirrell or making all kind sof documents.

Print is alive and well, which is how a book that is available in both print and e-book can still sell huge numbers of copies in print. There's just something reassuring about being able to hold a crisp business card, catalog, brochure, or other tangible ad item that really makes the customer at ease.

Printing is still useful to many people and to a lot of industries. I also believe that expansion of low cost and internet media helped the printing industry progress as well - online printing companies have emerged and are within the reach of internet users and consumers.
