If you are good in Photoshop then creating a graphic content will be an easy thing for you. Photoshop is the best graphic software of you are familiar with it.

I use Paint Shop Pro.

I know many designers feel that it isn't up to existing design standards, but everything I have done with it works find!

Paintshop pro is good, but for image editing NOT vector editing, or creating for that matter.

If you want to create high class logos, you should much rather go for a Vector Editing program.

Actully yes I'd like to correct myself there a little, its good but since it's not simply made FOR VECTORS, it's not the best stuff out there for vectors imho.

I would rather use something like Fireworks (even over photoshop), since fireworks make the process all too quick and hassle free, and it specially made for playing around with vectors.

I think Adobe Illustrator would make a very good choice. You may also rely on Inkscape. Serif Image editor does a good job too.

If you want to have the best logo design, try using Adobe Illustrator CS4. I used to create logo for our company using this software. It's very convenient to use because of the cool features. Adobe Illustrator is a little bit expensive but worth paying for.
