Hi fellow designers
What do you think the trends of 2009 will be in logo designs ?
I think 2008 have been a lot about loops and dots.
As for 2009 i think we will be going back to the more clean logos in squares, generally more conservative in the designs.

You are surly right about the dots. The big companies got a lot of dots in all sort of colors in their logo's and advertising materials.
However i do not think 2009 will be conservative. But i think we will start moving away from the 3d symbols. (always haded those)
Anyway that's what i think. I will be fun to see in one year who is right :-) or if we are totally roang :-)

A good rule of thumb, as a designer...
Once a particular style is identified as a trend, it's a good idea to stay away from it...

I think the beauty of being creative allows us to avoid 'trends'. I think an invaluable lesson in design is to "start from scratch" as said by the great Walter Gropius at the Bauhaus... construct a functional solution from the brief and try to free yourself of what your sponge of a brain has absorbed.

I totally agree, one should always try to make unique and creative designs, that is what the clients pay us to do.
But i just thought it would be fun to guess the trend of this year. Because we always have trends. You do not need to follow them, but many do. Else it would not be a trend :-)

True, I guess there's the undeniable truth that some things just look good, and what better influence than something that is appreciated by the masses! I'm a huge fan of the Glass look, its done to death but I still like it, as do most people.... everyone likes shiny things!
I think your right in '09 being a little more conservative... I'd like to see typography dominate this year, every logo these days seems to rely on a symbol with the addition of a stock font. Lets work the letter coca cola style!

I think it will be simple but effective in the sense that there wil be clean cut designs with no overdoing on them

A logo is the identity of a company. It inspires trust, loyalty, reliability and superiority. The primary objective of a logo is to communicate the company's intended message. For this reason, it should be unique, appropriate, realistic and explicit in form. Moreover, it should be effective in any size and color. A logo is said to be great when it successfully executes a remarkable concept.
Before you set out to design a logo, it is essential to note down your ideas, thoughts and requirements. Thereafter, on the basis of the type of the industry your company belongs to, and its history, objectives, and competitors, conduct a study to ascertain the latest trends and styles of logos. This extensive thought-process will help you conceptualise the logo design.
It doesn't matter whether its 2009 or 2010, still you need to be innovative and at the same time expressive too ..!!
Happy Designing..
Alex.

What makes a thing to be heard or seen more - is it the content or concept? While both plays an important role individually, the other aspect which takes to the next level is 'Logo Design''. Even a minuscule product or small company can be remembered instantly through a good logo.

A simple design is much preferable in my opinion as it is pleasing to the eyes. Your audience will love coming back because they found it to be a pleasant experience visiting your site.

I tend to agree that it's about confidence and simplicity. I want a logo I can look at and associate immediately with a company. A simple design is more likely to do that than a convoluted one. However, you can go to an extreme and become lost in a wealth of dot logos.

The design pattern gets evolved over time and one cannot stop with certain patterns. From many different aspects of dots, to lines to many more variety, I think that logo should be designed to attract human mind and be remembered instantly in any given situation. That will be a great work which will work wonders for the designer and for the company.
