Free Web Hosting?

I was curious about making a free website but I'm not sure where to look for hosting. I don't have the money at the time to purchase a domain name or to host on a paid server. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good place to host a free site?

If you don't have the money to use 5 USD on a domain and 50cent for cheap hosting, why bother putting anything online?

Webzign, a lot of people like to work online or provide information online but don't necessarily have the money to invest in their own domain. The web is full of people using free domain sites.

Search the web and find many free websites. You may use them initially and then go for upgrade option. Free websites may not have all the features.

Thanks for the help. I don't really need very many features. Just something very simple for a small local business. It's pretty much just needed to get their information available online.

Free web hosting is a good place to start but it might not take very long until you find you need to get some paid posting. Still starting with free works because you can always have your site redirected later.

Is it very difficult to have your site redirected to a paid hosting site from a free hosting site? I would hate to do all that work and have to start over if I ever decided to switch to paid hosting.

I'd recommend starting out with paid hosting but if it's really not possible then a free one should get the job done. Just don't expect it to be too reliable. As for the transferring, if you have FTP access you can just save all the files into a folder and then re-upload them to your paid host. Be sure to backup the SQL databases as well.

Okay, thanks for the advice. I wasn't sure how that all worked. I've started using a free hosting service for now. I haven't had any problems yet and I hope it works out well. I'm hoping to eventually be able to move to paid hosting. Thanks again everyone.
