Go for digital cameras that shoo telephoto and that won't eat batteries. Check aspects such as zoom and image stabilization.

You want to pay attention to the number of pixels. That's very important in getting quality photos.

The CCD sensor is very important as well, then the Lens and Digital zoom.
Anyways the number of recorded pixels doesn't matter a lot in my opinion.
