Background or Subject?
Which do you think is more important when taking a picture of something, the background or the subject?

I'm always trying to get the best background when I'm taking a picture of someone. For me, the background is more important than the subject in the picture because we can't get the same background all the time.

I think that the subject should be the one that we should focus on since it is the star. We should know what angle should we take the picture of our subject matter. We could always choose the background from our save files and transfer our subject there.

When I take a picture it drives me crazy to have odd objects in the back or foreground. Like chairs or lamps or water bottles. I try my best to catch the subject without "extra" stuff in the way.

Your subject should always be key, but it also depends on what your true subject is. Is it just the dog, or is it the dog and the dog's environment, for example?

You got a good point orrymain. I always try to consider the background because of the overall look of the picture. I agree that we can replace any background we want using an image-editing software but I'd prefer a picture with its original background.
