I am about to start college for graphic design. I am just out of high school and starting summer quarter. I am very nervous but very excited. I have heard that taking art in college is much different in high school. Does anyone know what college professors really want out of their students. I really want to impress my professors.

Hello, welcome and congratulations on starting school. If you really enjoy art then you are going to do just fine. I one piece of advice is do not put any projects off to a last minute things. Always put studies first and take time to put our passion in to your project.

What an exciting time for you. I remember when I was just starting. My advice to you is never give up. Sometimes a professor isn't going to like your style or will intentionally try to break you in to new areas even if he does. Remember they are their to teach you. If it seems as if they are being harsh or mean or anything just remember their job is to teach you and usually they have an intent behind what they are doing.

If you get a criticism from a professor before you blow it off try to see if behind the criticism is a lesson. And of course if there isn't and the professor is just in a bad mood, well then just take a few deep breaths and move on to your next project.

Hello & Welcome! I know exactly what you are going through, going off to college and whatnot for the first time. It can be extremely nerve-racking. But remember, we've all been there once & we've all gotten through it!

Thanks so much for the encouragement everyone. I already am starting to feel better. I am very well motivated and always give 100% so hopefully this will go well. I will take every ones advice to heart. And of course if i get in to trouble I will just come and bug you guys!
