Is it really necessary to invest a significant amount of money in website design or can it be produced for a lesser amount?

If you want to hire a professional for web designing, then you must shell out more money. If your demand and needs are less, you will be charged accordingly. But i hope on an average, people ask for 200$ for a better design. Has anyone tried before?

I've never hired a professional before, but I do have a friend who does web design for major sites on the web, and he told me most designers will drop the costs down a bit depending on what the person needs done, if the person needs all this crazy stuff, and is offering 200 bucks, the designer is going to say one thing , " SEE YA "

I really think it is one of those situations in that you get what you pay for. Web designers generally charge in accordance to your needs, so if you do want to hire a pro, get some estimated qoutes and ask for URLs to websites they have already designed.

Good call asking them to provide URL's , make sure to contact the owner of that URL the designer links you so you can verify he did design it :)

If I design a page for someone I'm probably going to charge $200-$300 for that service. I know what I'm doing and that comes with a few articles written about the site that will be submitted to search engines and show up on the first page of Google and other search engines.

I hired a web designer for a web site I am building. He builds custom websites so I got to choose colors, logos and layout. It was really fun and he did a good job so far. I would say go cheap if you are building a basic website but go fancier if you looking to build a more elaborate website.

I think it is okay to invest on a web site as long as you know that you will be earning much from it in the future.

Just make sure that the website that you are going to make can attact more visitors and costumers.

Investing in a web site for design and functionality is crucial to your market share.

I learned the hard way, and now I either do it all myself, or hire someone to do it for me (even if only for the things I cannot do myself)
