Difference from an icon and a logo
What is the difference between an icon and a logo? I dont really know of one, they are sort of the same..

Well, I guess you could say for McDonald's their logo is the golden arches , and their icon is Ronald McDonald?

Good question, I was wondering the same thing! I am guessing and -somebody please correct me if I am wrong- that a logo is that design used by companies such as Nike'a arch or Target's dot.

An icon on the other hand is not really used for advertising but rather can be found on a website, like the orange thing with waves and a dot is an icon for the RSS feed or the house near your browser is an icon for home.

Alessadry is correct. An icon is a small image depicting a simple idea or concept. As McDonalds was used, you can see an icon on nearly every McDonalds door in the nation. The icon for WiFi.

A logo, on the other hand, is a business or website's signature image, that represents it, and can be used in any context to denote that company, like the golden arches, or the Nike swoosh. Simply by seeing these things, you think of the company.

I can only hear icons on websites. I believe that a logo is representation of the company in general. They are pretty much different in their uses.

Difference from an icon and a logo
From my own understanding, icon is a picture of something while logo is the representation of something through signs and symbols. This is why we can make icons in forums to make a picture of the member.
